Golden shiner grades

Graded by width, sold by the pound.

All fish are graded by width, so length and counts are approximate. The farm hatches golden shiners by the billion and carries them twelve months a year, which is why the chart runs from fry-size #4 all the way to brooders.

Over one billion fry a season.

The farm's 11,000-square-foot hatchery is capable of producing over one billion fry per season, and its feed storage was upgraded to accommodate five million pounds of feed annually to keep up.

Loading floor

Netted, weighed and loaded with as little stress as the farm can manage.

Loading runs on custom-made buckets and forklifts with digital scales built into the forks, and the trucks load under a rainproof roof. Some of the crew have been doing it for 25 to 30 years.
